THE THIRD SOCRATES CAFE IN TUZLA: PATRIOTISM VS. NATIONALISM

Patriotism vs. Nationalism is the topic that has attracted the largest number of participants at the Socrates Cafe in Tuzla. On November 13th, 2019, in the Coffee Zone, attendees questioned what binds a person to the nation at all, whether the state can standardize patriotism and nationalism, and who has the right to determine the measure of one's patriotism. The cafe was facilitated by Dženeta Omerdić, a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Tuzla.

The participants also discussed with the professor about whether is it a patriotic act to stand up and disassociate ourselves from those actions of our own national group that we disagree with and at which intellectual level the boundaries between universal (cosmic) and trans-national identity emerge.
